The other day I was listening to one of our local talk radio stations, TheSky97.3 in the afternoon. The regular show, after Rush, is "The Drive Time Happy Hour" where Chip Morris and "Mr. PC" comment and rant on the liberal news and inconsistency of the day. (Together thay have a website, The Radio Gypsies, that is both entertaining and informative.)

Anyway, they read a letter entitled, "Thank A Liberal," that went on and on about all the "good" things the fictional conservative enjoyed as he went about his day, you guessed it, thanks to a liberal. I found the text of the document on PoliticsForum.org.

That got me to thinking and my fingers to walking across the keyboards. Admittedly while some of this is not personal experience, all can be appreciated by hard working, tax paying citizens. Freeloaders and liberals won't understand, or even figure it out.

Chip and PC,
I was walking down Silver Springs Blvd. doing my daily 3 miles listening to you recite “Thank A Liberal” and I couldn’t help but think of a few other things I could thank a liberal for.

The wide streets built to move traffic with more safety and efficiency to save lives and reduce emissions are paid for by constantly increasing property taxes and impact fees, thanks to a liberal

The cars on those streets are built to over the top safety standards and emissions control regulations that have together helped push the cost of a new vehicle from $2,500 in 1970 to over $25,000 today, thanks to a liberal.

Those same safety standards have interfered with Darwin’s theory and protected many an erratic driving liberal from certain death, saving them to demand more safety standards and sue manufacturers for mega-millions, further increasing the costs of buying those cars.

To further void Darwin’s theory, laws now require that I wear a seatbelt while driving my highly safety regulated automobile to protect myself from harm, or else I face a fine while exempting a totally exposed motorcyclist from wearing a helmet, thanks to a liberal. The inconsistency baffles me.
(For the record, while I don’t think Govt. should tell me to wear that seat belt or helmet, I’d be stupid to go without protection.)

Many of those same cars are filled with hordes of people who depend on my tax dollars to pay for their subsidized housing, food stamps, Medicade, day care and public schools, for which they pay nothing, because they don’t “have to work,” the “government” will take care of them. To pay for that, my taxes have increased from 1% in 1913 36% today, thanks to a liberal.

My health insurance premiums have increased yearly to keep up with the exponential growth in healthcare costs brought on by increasingly expensive procedures and medications to placate those liberals among us who think life should be painless and perfect.

Those premiums are also driven upward by the increasing cost of medical liability insurance that drives some practitioners out of business, causing me to have to search for that fearless individual still willing to hang his shingle, thank to those liberal tort lawyers.

I go to the grocery store to by basic necessities, only to be confronted by constantly increasing prices brought on by government regulations for everything from labeling to packaging to manufacturing and corporate accounting practices increasing the cost of goods as much as 50+%, thanks to a liberal.

My trip to the great outdoors is constantly interrupted by signs spoiling the beautiful vista, warning me not to litter or pick the flowers or take the rocks or make excessive noise, then quietly asking for a $2.00 fee to pay again for services I paid for with my tax dollars, thanks to a liberal.

Because of that excessive taxation and regulation constantly eating into my paycheck, reducing it’s buying power, my wife has to go to work to produce the little extra income to make ends meet, taking her out of the home and into a increasing hostile workplace full of sexual harassment and innuendo that results from a society obsessed with “freedom of speech” and loss of moral absolutes, thanks to a liberal.
