Seems like last night the Kerry campaign validated some of my comments in the previous post. At a fundraiser at Radio City Music Hall a bunch of folk from the entertainment industry got together to stir up their emotions, pump a little adrenaline and raise some cash…lots of cash.
In the process of whipping up $7.5 million at ticket prices ranging from $250 to $25,000 a pop, the stars let it all hang out in all their visceral glory. I thought the Dems claimed to be the party of the little guy, the disenfranchised. Well, at least they got the “dis” part right.
The Bush hating was palpable if the rhetoric is any indication. From name calling to Whoopi Goldberg’s vulgar diatribe, the hate fest went on for hours.
Meryl Streep, in an obvious slam at the president’s and millions of other American’s Christian beliefs blared, “I wondered to myself during 'Shock and Awe,' I wondered which of the megaton bombs Jesus, our president's personal savior, would have personally dropped on the sleeping families of Baghdad?”
For his part, Kerry apparently had a blast, the New York Post reporting he “could be seen laughing uproariously during part of Goldberg's tirade - and neither he nor Edwards voiced a single objection to its tone when they spoke to the crowd.”
Kerry, reported the New York Times, “told the crowd that "every single performer" on the bill had "conveyed to you the heart and soul of our country.” If Kerry thinks this is the “heart and soul” of America, we need heart massage and prayer stat!
Of course Kerry, being Kerry, went on to West Virginia Friday, and no doubt told them he shared their values and that they too represented the “heart and soul” of America. No doubt we could find him anywhere, at any event, talking to anyone telling them they represent the “heart and soul” of America.
So just what is the “heart and soul” of America? Apparently Mr. Kerry thinks it’s what ever you want it to be.
John Edwards seems to have a stronger grasp on the issue of values. ABC News quotes Edwards, “Values is not a word on a piece of paper. Values is not part of a political slogan. Values are what's inside you.” Meanwhile, wife Elizabeth defended his acceptance of the values expressed at the fundraiser by declaring, “A lot of people are going to be angry - there's a lot to be angry about. It's a free country and people are going to express that anger.” So, is that “what’s inside you, ” John Edwards?
Of course I’ve no doubt Mr. Edwards understands "values", this son of a blue-collar mill worker now worth $70 million. Of course that $70 million was “earned” suing medical practitioners in North Carolina. He “won” verdicts totaling $150 million.
Medical liability insurance premiums have reached $200,000 a year in some specialties because of excessive court judgments generated by suits filed by Edwards and his trial-lawyer allies. And those increased premiums ended up being tacked onto the bills of patients. Patients who could little afford it. Who could little afford to enrich John Edwards. Seems he understands that “values” includes taking from the little guy to make himself rich.

Michael Moore has turned the political world on it's head with his ideologically distorted truth in “Fahrenheit 9/11.” Of course many on the left are so blinded by their rage towards Bush, they are unable to see the fallacies of Moore's presentation.

Have "I" seen this "documentary/political diatribe", no. Will I, maybe. I've read and heard enough, from both sides, to distrust Moore's claim of "truth". He is unabashedly a crusader. One of the failing of this crusader is that he puts on the blinders and plugs his ears to all that would argue against his preconceived ideas, and plunges on.

Even Newsweek is reporting on the false claims of Moore's work. Falsified timelines, attributing claims inappropriately to demonize conservatives, while obfuscating (or outright denying) complicity of liberals. He has taken little snippets of truth, stretching and spinning them into full-blown conspiracy theories, with no underlying foundational basis.

Will knowledge of these falsehoods disway Moore's believers. Emphatically, NO! They, as does Moore, have little interest in honesty or truth. Only in their blind agenda, getting rid of Bush.
As French studen Adrien Bloch put it in an AP interview reprinted in World, "It's very important, this movie," he said. "We don't like Bush and this movie is anti-Bush ... It reflects our thinking."

Quite honestly, I think “Fahrenheit 9/11” has served to out the libs for what they really are, folk fueled by hatred and ideas with little analytical thought or factual basis. Unable to give credit where credit is due, unable to acknowledge or even recognize the good in someone who they've been told by their leadership is bad, bad, bad. In fact, unwilling or unable to look coldly at their leadership and objectively analyze the rhetoric. It's really sad. When facts and logic come into the conversation, emotion, finger pointing and name calling go on steroids.

I suppose I have to thank Moore for one thing. He has certainly helped to solidify my decision that Bush is the better choice in November. I certainly don't agree with all the Bush doctrine, I sometimes worry he isn't conservative enough. But recognizing the realities of Washington politics, my perfect world is not going to happen.

Still, if Kerry/Edwards is the Moore preference, no matter how moderate or conservative, or even liberal I may have leanings towards, I would, and will, vote anti-Moore, pro-Bush.

(I do think Bush could strengthen the ticket with a little rearrangement of his administration. Specifically, swap Cheney and Rice. Condi for VP!)

With the transition in Iraq to the new government, it seems things are heating up, and Iraqis are beginning to take responsibility for their own security.
Polish troops have announced recovery of a number of rockets and mortar shells (also on FrontPage) containing cyclosarin gas, a exceptionally potent version of this WMD. This artillery was supposed to have been destroyed by Saddam 15 years ago. What happened to the UN weapons inspections?
Borrowing from Abu Mussab Al-Zarqawi's play book, the Iraqi Salvation Movement aired a video warning the terrorist to leave Iraq or face his own medicine, at their hands.
I just came across an early unconfirmed report that Iraq has closed it's border with Iran over the flow of terrorist arms and militia from that state.
The new Iraqi government is cracking down of the insurgency in Fallujah, warning them to stop, or else.
All this as al Qaida threatens to escalate terrorist attacks in Europe and elsewhere after the July 15th deadline they set in April for withdrawal of troops from Iraq. Northeast Intelligence Network has more detail and analysis on this threat as well as a short piece on certain Iraqi tribes threatening to move on Fallujah to stop the abductions and beheading originating there.
It seems like Iraqi's are stepping up to the plate, and the terrorists are digging in.
