According to Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., Bush must "demand the resignations for whoever is involved in this policy, and that includes Lord God Almighty himself. It includes anybody involved." He was, of course, speaking of the abuses uncovered and being investigated in the Iraqi prison scandal.
Seems like Mr. Biden doesn't understand the nature of God, has set himself up as judge and jury and executioner over God, and is treading on thin ice in his arrogance.
Now I understand what he meant, but his cavalier suggestion that Almighty God Himself could be found accountable for the abuses indicates a fundamental ignorance of the person and attributes of the Father.
It also suggests that Mr. Biden thinks himself better than and above God, since he failed to suggest that he, Mr. Biden, should be included in that list.

Seems to me that those who are shouting the loudest about the Iraqi prisoner abuse incident are those looking to grandstand for attention and looking for political fallout. Why are they calling for Rumsfeld's resignation. Politics. Why is the media keeping this as a hot issue in the headlines. Politics. Why are they asking for apologies? Politics.
Why are they calling the military leadership to sit before a congressional committee? Politics.
I didn't see these politicians making this noise when the contractors in Fallujah were killed and their bodies burned, dragged through the streets and hung from bridges.
I don't see these people calling for apologies from those who perpetrated those atrocities.
I don't hear them calling for apologies from Osama bin Laden for the heinous act he orchestrated on Sept. 11, 2001.
These people aren't interested in justice, decency and honor. All they want is to politicized this event.
There are a few decent individuals among them, Sens. Lieberman and Dole to name two. But by and large, this was an attempt to try to shame and denigrate Mr. Rumsfeld and Mr. Bush.
I can hear them now, "Military procedure be damned, we want heads to roll and there should be no such thing as protecting the rights of the accused."

Just a quick note on another item of interest. An article in the April 20th edition of USA Today caught my eye. Talk about letters from Iraq!
The story is about Iraqi bloggers and how they are trying to get the real news about what's happening there to the world.
Omar Fadhil's blog, Iraq The Model, tells of his life and the lives of his two brothers. One brother also is a dentist, and the other is a pediatrician. "We wanted to help bridge the gap, not just between the U.S. and Iraq, but with the entire Islamic world."
Despite threats from militants and detractors these courageous souls are using technology to exploit their new found freedoms.
"I am not afraid," Ali says. "I was afraid all my life. I will not go back to living in fear."

This weekend, Saturday to be exact, is the annual 12th Annual Food Drive for Postal Service Letter Carriers. This collection effort is spearheaded by the NALC, the letter carrier union, with the help of the Rural Carrier Association, other employees, Postal management, the Campbell Soup Company and America's Second Harvest.
New to sponsorship this year is Valpak Direct Marketing Systems, the nationwide direct mail advertising firm who is providing promotions for the drive.
Customers are asked to leave non-perishable food items by their mail boxes on Saturday morning and as carriers make their rounds they will collect those donations and at the end of the day they are sorted and taken to local food banks.
In our town the collected items will go to Interfaith Emergency Services, a non-profit organization that helps those in need with food, shelter, clothing and job training.
If everyone participates a lot can be accomplished. Last year 61.7 million pounds of food was collected nationally. Though I don't have the exact figures, locally in Ocala we, our customers, donated about 10 tons of much needed food supplies.
Take time, check your pantry and if you don't see something there to donate go to your grocery. Donate what you would like to have if you were in need, not just those things you have but don't want anymore.
In the words of Jesus, "Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me--you did it to me."(MSG)

Referring to the last post, the difference between the Coalition forces of the West and the Islamic fundamentalist is the while abuse and atrocities are possible by forces on both sides, in the west it is considered abhorrent, vile and unlawful by nearly everyone.
Among Islamic fundamentalists, it is celebrated with great joy and victory.
We are repulsed, they are energized.
We seek to bring the perpretrators to justice, they seek to make heros of them.
We are shamed, they swell with pride.
We have a code of justice that protects those who we have in custody, their culture allows them to abuse, torture, threaten and kill those whom they've captured.
Certainly there are those on both sides whose values run against the current of their society, I would much rather be where I am.
