Had the pleasure of meeting my wife's 1st husband's family this weekend. Its been nearly 16 years since Bob died and though they don't get to see the family much, I was impressed with the expression of love shown.
Too often when there is a loss in a family, the loss of the loved one is exacerbated by some who would decide there is no need to continue their releationship with the surviving spouse and children.
Bob's family is a wonderful example of love and acceptance even after all these years. Karen and Bob's sons had no qualms or doubts; their Grandma and Aunts and Uncles are still interested in them and their lives. Though much water has passed under the bridge, there is still a depth and freshness many families would envy.
